Alcatel LinkZone (MW41) is a portable WiFi hotspot. The one I got was locked to Optus.
It supports the following bands:
MW41CL Bands:
FDD LTE: Band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28 compatible with Band26
TDD LTE : Band 40 compatible with B38
UMTS Band 1, 3, 5, 8
Compared to other products on the market, the only highlight of this unit is that it supports up to 15 WiFi connections. And for some reason, getting it unlocked from the ISP (Optus in my case) can be really really easy and cheap. IT also has a dedicated WPS button which some may find useful.
The main issue with is that the reception is no as good as many other products. I bought a Huawei E3372 USB dongle at the same time and tested that out using the same SIM card and same location. The reception is about 30-40% worst on the Alcatel MW41. To add to the issue. This device has no ports for external antennas.
The Web UI adopts a “album cover carousel” style layout. It looks interesting but actually is not that easy to use compared to a conventional nav+detail layout – personal opinion. Also there are typos in the Web UI. (e.g. “band” is spelt as “bnad”, firmware version MW_41_MZ_02.00_03). This makes think about their QA process.
– Totally unrelated: Alcatel is a brand under TCL Telecommunication these days.
Overall, this is a very unremarkable product. If you can get one dirt-cheap and you happen to need one. Otherwise, buy something else.
